Lomi Lomi Bodywork Canberra
Hawaiian Temple Style Massage also known as Ka Huna Bodywork or Lomi Lomi, originated in the South Pacific and was once reserved for royalty and used during Rites of Passage as a transformational massage and healing system.

A formal type of massage called Kahuna bodywork was performed in the ancient healing temples by Kahuna priests, who were revered as keepers of the esoteric knowledge of life – Huna Wisdom.

The informal traditional style of massage was called Lomi Lomi and was given by family members to each other for relaxation, recuperation, and treatment of ailments. Each family group developed its own recognisable style.

The ‘Heartworks’ style of Lomi Lomi was founded by Sherman Dudoit. It is  know to be a caring and loving treatment that can be very healing.

Heartworks  Lomi Lomi technique includes long, fluid, rhythmic strokes over the  whole body with the hands which are used as an extension of the heart.  The benefits can include:
  • Opens the heart
  • Drains the lymphatic system
  • Improves circulation
  • Releases blocked energy and emotions
  • Heals the mind, body and spirit
  • Stimulates immune, respiratory and digestive systems
  • Relaxes the mind, recharges the body
  • Nurtures, calms and restores you
Modern Hawaiian massage draws it roots from these lineages.

Hawaiians believed that everything in nature is sacred and interconnected and that life-affirming thoughts and actions respond in return with abundant healing and blessings.

The Seven Principles of Huna Philosophy:
IKE  The world is what you think it is
KALA  There are no limits; we are all one
MAKIA  Energy flows where attention goes
MANAWA  Now is the moment of power
ALOHA  To love is to be happy
MANA  All p0wer comes from within
PONO  Effectiveness is the measure of truth

During these beautiful forms of bodywork, the practitioner moves around the table in a Tai Chi style of movement and uses hands and forearms in long flowing, continuous strokes, moving around the body from the head to the toe.
